The 26-year-old will face the fight of his life as he comes in as a late replacement to take on the bantamweight division’s number-three ranked fighter Saemapetch Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 17: Kryklia vs Roberts.

Expert speakers & leaders will gather at World Football Summit Asia to detail Saudi Arabia’s sporting transformation

Industry experts and inspirational leaders head to Jeddah this month for World Football Summit’s latest unmissable gathering.
Since 2016, the organisation has brought football’s finest together across the globe. This unmatched networking event will be held in Saudi Arabia for the first time from December 12-13, providing unique insights about, and access into, the country’s rapid sporting development.
More than 1,000 representatives and stakeholders are expected to hear 130+ speakers take part in panel discussions, while valuable business opportunities abound in The Expo Area.
WFS Co-Founder and Director Jan Alessie has overseen a team who’ve organised 18 events, establishing successful partnerships with top brands and building a community of more than 100,000 football professionals. He talked Sport360 through this month’s essential gathering in The Kingdom.
Question: Please introduce us to December’s WFS Asia event, and what will be on offer in Jeddah?
Alessie: World Football Summit Asia celebrates its first edition in KSA on December 12-13, and it will gather the global ecosystem of football industry professionals. Our second edition of WFS Asia aims to bring together more than 1,000 representatives and stakeholders from the football ecosystem.
The event will feature 130+ speakers, with 70 per cent of attendees being decision-makers from leading football properties and sports businesses. Normally, the core of our events relies upon three pillars:

Building a powerful network
Creating unmatched business opportunities
Connecting top-tier sports industry talent

The guests at the WFS event in Saudi Arabia can expect insightful panels discussing how the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is strategising to become a leading sports hub. The event is an excellent opportunity for global networking and business development; it showcases the increasing interest of European entities in the region and aims to connect the global football industry, fostering its growth and professionalisation.
Question: How important is it to hold an event of this kind in Saudi Arabia, at the present time?
Alessie: The decision to host WFS Asia in Saudi Arabia highlights the country’s growing prominence as a global sports powerhouse.
The Kingdom has already secured the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and FIFA Club World Cup and has attracted top talents on the field such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar or Karim Benzema and on the business front like Esteve Calzada or Peter Hutton.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia is the sole contender for hosting the 2034 Men’s FIFA World Cup. Alongside football, the nation has made significant strides in other sports, including LIV, eSports, for which they will start hosting an annual eSports World Cup in 2024, and more.
All in all, given Saudi Arabia’s aspiration to establish itself as a leading force in global sports, it made perfect sense for World Football Summit to organise an event here, connecting key regional football stakeholders with their international counterparts. As a matter of fact, we just published a special report analysing the markets with the highest potential in football, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was clearly identified as one of those markets.
The report is available on our website and stay tuned to the World Football Summit Podcast where will go into greater detail about how KSA is unlocking this potential.

Question: How has WFS Asia been tailored to the Saudi Arabian/Asian market?
Alessie: Undeniably, Saudi Arabia is becoming the epicenter of a cultural and economic shift in the football industry.
As such, we are giving a special degree of visibility to stakeholders of the entire region so they can share more insights into their sports business strategy in the future. This includes panels with leading figures, participation of local sports organisations, and visibility of initiatives taking place in the market.
If you look at the list of speakers, many of them work in top-tier leading institutions like the Roshn Saudi League, brands like Riyadh Air, or clubs like Al Nassr. Again, this will be a perfect scenario to understand more about the KSA’s ambition around football.
Question: What opportunities are on offer to WFS Asia attendees?
Alessie: In terms of tickets, we have three options available on our website (www.asia.worldfootballsummit.com): Our standard Corporate Pass; a special pass for Female Leaders in Football; and for those who cannot travel to Jeddah, there is a streaming pass available to follow the panels from anywhere in the world.
Then, once registered, attendees will encounter endless networking opportunities.
Through the WFS App one can get in touch with any attendee of the event, there will be lounges available for networking coffee and booths with some of the largest brands in football.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by World Football Summit (@worldfootballsummit)
Question: What can attendees expect from WFS Asia’s speakers and panels?
Alessie: We are proud to welcome more than 130 leaders who will share insights and expertise on how they are shaping the future of football.
The topics that will be discussed include, among many others: Partnerships, fan engagement, sports technology, sustainability, ownership models, and women’s football. In total, our conference concept includes 11 different tracks and our detailed program can be reviewed on our website.
We have made a conscious effort to build a program that touches every angle of the industry and invites some of the ecosystem’s best names.
Question: How valuable is the synergy at WFS Asia when the best brands in sports and business meet?
Alessie: We are going through a period of transformational shift in the football industry that is advancing at an exponential rate.
Sports fans today have very different behaviors, they are less intense and have fragmented attention. New technologies are changing what happens on and off the pitch dramatically, and new governance models are taking the industry by storm…
The reality is that sports properties will need to rely on business partners that help them keep pace with the amount of change.
Ultimately, we believe the football industry needs to embrace a commitment to more professionalisation on the business side of things, and the collaboration between football properties and businesses will be instrumental in seeing this happen.
Question: Walk us through the history of WFS, its goals and what impact the organisation has enjoyed?
Alessie: Since its inception in 2016, WFS has successfully attracted more than 24,000 attendees across 18 events and has built a global community of 100,000+ sports industry executives throughout its platforms. Top names in the industry, including Gianni Infantino, Fatma Samoura, Ronaldo Nazario, Samuel Eto’o, Peter Moore and Cindy Parlow-Cone have participated, showcasing the event’s significance in the global football landscape.
We have hosted events all around the world in countries such as Spain, Turkey, South Africa, Malaysia, Czech Republic and we could not be more excited to finally be able to celebrate an event in KSA, given the ambition the country has to become a leading sports hub as I said before.
Question: If people want to attend WFS Asia, how can they do this?
Alessie: Just visit http://www.asia.worldfootballsummit.com and you can purchase our ticket directly there. We hope to see you all in Jeddah!

The 27-year old went into the clash at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok having lost his debut bout in February, and facing stiff opposition in the form of Chanajon who was unbeaten in his three ONE fights since his debut in May.
However Al Taktreeti, who won gold at the World Combat Games in October, would prove his credentials in the ONE lightweight Muay Thai division – turning the lights out on his Thai opponent.
He found a perfect right uppercut that pierced Chanajon’s defence, landing right on the chin and bringing an end to the fight 1:43 into the second round – announcing the Iraqi’s arrival is fine style.

On the back of World Title, Iraqi ace hunts first ONE Championship win

Iraqi Muay Thai ace Mustafa Al Tekreeti goes in search of his first ONE Championship win this week at Friday Fights 43.
In October he won gold at the World Combat Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the under-81kg elite Muay Thai class, and now returns to ONE looking to establish himself in the lightweight ranks.
He debuted with the organisation back in February, when he suffered a points defeat to Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong, but is now back and looking for redemption.
His opponent at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand will be Chanajon PK Saenchai. An experienced 35-year-old from the renowned PK Saenchai gym who has gone 3-0 in ONE since making his debut in May.
It will be another tough test for 27-year old Tekreeti, but he will be buoyed by his WCG win and keen to show his credentials on the biggest martial arts stage in the world.
ONE Friday Fights 43 comes live from the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok on Friday December 1. Fight fans in the MENA region can watch the first half of the card on BeINSPORTS from 3.30pm MECCA. ONE Championship: Chafi aiming to get his name in the win column

Mouchine Chafi is looking to notch his first ONE Championship win next week as he takes on Dimitry Menshikov at ONE Fight Night 17.
Moroccan Spanish Muay Thai ace Chafi slipped to a unanimous decision loss to the experienced Sinsamut Klinmee on debut earlier this month but has an immediate chance to respond at The Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok in the early hours of Saturday morning, December 9.
Chafi, a former WBC Light Heavyweight Muay Thai world champion, is now looking to shift his experience and quality into the ONE ranks.
Standing in his way will be Russia’s Menshikov.
He entered ONE with a fearsome reputation, and an 11-fight win streak which earned him an immediate crack at two-sport king Regian Eersel. That night ended in a first round KO defeat but he was able to rebound in September with an early KO of his own, this time against  Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong.
Despite his early setback there is little doubt around Menshikov’s striking ability and this one will be another tough test for Chafi to see if he can establish himself in the ONE lightweight Muay Thai division.

Algeria’s Anane looks to go back-to-back in ONE Championship

After a stunning performance in his last outing, Algeria’s Nabil Anane will be looking to end the year on a high with another statement performance.
In September the teenager picked up a second round TKO against Nakrob Fairtex to establish himself in ONE Championship’s Muay Thai class, after suffering a first round KO on debut.
That was no ordinary debut however, and defeat to the established Superlek is by no means a disgrace, but it was important to get in the win column.
He will now be looking to back that up at Friday Fights 46 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok on December 22 when he takes on the experienced Muangthai PKSaenchaigym. Known for his devastating elbows, Muangthai holds an impressive 7-2 record in ONE and will provide another stern test for Anane.
The two will be part of one of the biggest cards of the year at Friday Fights 46, with no fewer than three title fights scheduled. Tawanchai and Superbon will battle it out at the top of the card for the featherweight Muay Thai world title, while Morocco’s Joseph Lasiri will defend his strawweight Muay Thai title against Prajanchai. In another fight for MENA fans – Algeria’s Anissa Meksen will take on Phetjeeja for the interim atomweight kickboxing world championship.
ONE Friday Fights 46 comes live from the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok on Friday December 22. Algerian star looking for ONE Championship gold in explosive start to 2024

Algeria’s Elias Mahmoudi will kick off 2024 with the opportunity of a lifetime – a shot at the ONE Championship flyweight kickboxing world title.
The 25-year-old will take on Thai superstar Superlek on ONE Fight Night 18 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on January 13.

WBC Muay Thai International Super Featherweight Champion.
Training since the age of five, Mahmoudi has been a permanent fixture at his family gym, and has seemed destined for greatness from an early age. Thailand has been a big part of his martial arts education, but the Mahmoudi Gym is still where he calls home.
His opponent, champion Superlek, needs little introduction. He holds a phenomenal 12-1 record in ONE, with a status-defining win against flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang in his last appearance.
Superlek joined ONE Championship in 2019 and engaged in many memorable battles, defeating the likes of Taiki Naito, Walter Goncalves, and even his old rival, Panpayak Jitmuangnon, twice

ONE Championship CEO hails record year and expects even more in 2024

ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong has announced the organisation’s best-ever year in 2023, with revenues expected to double in 2024.
ONE has seen a huge expansion over the course of 2023 which has seen more of a move into global markets from their traditionally strong base in the Far East.
Fight cards geared around US prime time, an ever increasing global fighter base, and greater worldwide audience awareness have projected ONE into the top-ten of the world’s biggest sporting properties according to Nielsen.
Viewership has rocketed in the triple digit percentages, through the showpiece ONE Fight Night and ONE Friday Fights, events are up from around 20 in 2022, to more than 60 this year.
The world’s largest martial arts organisation will now see profitability in the core business in the second half of next year with revenues expected to double to $200m in 2024, from $100m this year.

The last two years have seen exponential growth for the company and ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong said he doesn’t see the pace slowing – predicting 2024 to be even bigger.
Speaking to CNBC,: “This year is actually our record year. Our viewership number went up triple-digit percentages, and 60 live events versus 20 live events, the year prior, so the business is on fire and our revenues as well. We’re going to be a little north of 100 million dollars this year. And we’re already on track because we have high visibility of these deals for 200 million dollars, approaching 200 million dollars for 2024.”
